Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions

How often should you go to the dentist? When should your child have their first appointment? Will we accept your dental insurance? These are all great questions, and below, you’ll find the answers to them along with some of the others we receive every day. We’re always happy to boost our patients’ dental IQ so they can enjoy better oral health and more beautiful smiles! If there is anything else you’d like to ask, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

How frequently should I see a dentist?

According to Dr. Beasley (as well as the American Dental Association), patients of all ages should visit a dentist at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning. These routine appointments ensure that small problems don’t have the chance to go unnoticed and turn into major headaches, plus professional cleanings can prevent many minor issues from developing in the first place.

When should my child have their first dental appointment?

You should schedule your child to see a dentist as soon as their teeth emerge from their gum line. This early visit will introduce your child to dental care and allow Dr. Beasley to make sure their teeth and mouth are developing correctly. Plus, he can answer any questions you might have about taking care of your new smile!

My gums bleed every time I brush. Should I be concerned?

A little oral bleeding might be a sign that you are brushing/flossing with too much pressure, so lighten up! If the bleeding persists, however, this could be a sign of early-stage gum disease. You won’t be able to handle this on your own, so the best thing to do is call our dental office to schedule an appointment before the infection becomes worse.

One of my teeth hurts. What should I do?

Whether you just have a dull ache or searing pain, it’s smart to contact our dental office at the earliest indication of a toothache. It could mean you have a cavity, crack in the enamel, or serious dental infection. Acting quickly will enable us to address the problem early and take care of it using more conservative treatment. This will prevent any pain from getting worse as well!

I haven’t been to the dentist in YEARS. Can you still help me?

Yes. Patients with severely compromised smiles are more than welcome at Littleton Dental Studio. We’ll skip the lecture and just talk about how we can fix any decayed, broken, or missing teeth you have. Dr. Beasley can put together a personalized full-mouth reconstruction plan for you that will restore your smile’s health, strength, and appearance at the same time.

Can I straighten my teeth without getting metal braces?

Now you can! Invisalign is an innovative system that uses clear plastic aligner trays to shift the teeth as opposed to bulky metal brackets and wires. No one will know you’re using the treatment other than yourself and Dr. Beasley, and you can even slip the trays off whenever you want to eat or brush.

Will you accept my dental insurance?

Yes! Littleton Dental Studio is an in-network provider with many popular PPO dental insurance plans, and we accept Medicaid as well. How can we use your particular plan to help you save? To find out, give us a call today.
